Jesse Marsch is the only American coach to be coaching in the Champions League in Europe. His rise to this role is an interesting story – how he has built championship teams is even more fascinating. He played 14 seasons in the MLS and then went on to coach the first season for the Montreal Impact and the NY Red Bulls where he was named MLS coach of the year. Before becoming head coach is Salzburg, he was the assistant coach at RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga.
